Terms of Service

Effective date: May 5, 2026

Last updated: May 30, 2026

Welcome to Thicket. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Thicket mobile app and any related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Union) to use the Service. By using it, you represent that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

If you're using the Service on behalf of a business, you confirm you're authorized to do so on that business's behalf.

2. Your account

You can use the Service entirely without an account. Some features (cross-device sync, AI assistant, weekly insights) require you to sign in.

When you create an account, you're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for any activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal or to facilitate illegal activity.
  • Try to access another user's account, data, or any system we run that isn't intended for you.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our source code or AI models, except where the law explicitly grants you that right.
  • Scrape, automate, or otherwise abuse our APIs in ways that interfere with the service or burden our infrastructure.
  • Use AI features to generate, request, or facilitate content that violates the law or our content policy.
  • Resell, sublicense, or rebrand the Service.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the financial data you enter into the Service. By using cloud sync, you grant us a limited license to store, transmit, and process that data only as needed to provide the Service to you.

By using AI features, you grant us a limited license to send the relevant context to our AI provider so they can generate a response. We don't use your data to train AI models.

5. Intellectual property

Thicket and its content (other than your data) — including the app, its design, name, logo, and the AI prompts and tooling we operate — are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended purpose.

6. Subscription and pricing

The core Service is currently free to use. We may introduce paid plans or paid features in the future. If we do, we'll tell you in advance, and you'll be able to opt in. We won't charge you without your explicit consent.

7. Not financial advice

Thicket is a personal-finance tracking tool. The information, summaries, suggestions, and AI-generated content the Service provides are for general informational purposes only and are NOT financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice.

Always verify your data, do your own research, and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on what you see in the app.

8. AI accuracy disclaimer

Our AI features rely on third-party AI models. AI responses can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. AI-suggested categories, insights, and proposed actions ALL require your explicit confirmation before they affect your data. You are responsible for reviewing them.

9. Service availability

The local-only features of the app work whenever the app is installed on your device. Cloud-dependent features (sync, AI) require internet access and our servers being available. We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted access.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of security vulnerabilities.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Thicket and its directors, employees, and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.

12. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account from Settings → Delete account, which removes your cloud data within 30 days.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that puts other users or our infrastructure at risk. We'll give you notice when reasonable.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless your local consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we'll show a notice in the app and update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after the change means you accept the updated Terms.
